Vehicle Description Cruisin Classics is proud to present to you this incredibly low-mileage 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. This Monte Carlo comes to us today with a mere 4,695 actual miles on the odometer - backed up by the title and CarFax! 1988 was the last year of 4th generation Monte Carlo production and only 16,204 SS's were made that year. This car is a true unmolested survivor that still wears its original coat of black factory paint and it looks simply fantastic. The deep slick paint is accented by an SS graphics package that includes a series of red decal stripes that encircle the car at knee height and SS Monte Carlo decals at the front of both doors and on the trunk lid – all in flawless condition. The front end features a single piece of molded plastic that serves as a front bumper cover, grille, and a bezel for the quad headlights. Looking down the perfectly straight sides of the car you'll see that, aside from the decals, it sports a bit of a murdered-out look with black window trim, body-color door handles, and dual black sport mirrors. A fixed rear quarter window keeps your eye moving toward the rear where you'll find a lay-down spoiler attached to the trunk lid, another plastic bumper cover, clear vertical taillights with Monte Carlo shield emblems, and a hidden gas fill behind the license plate. This whole gorgeous package is perfectly complemented by a set of original 15 factory 5-spoke alloy wheels in silver and grey, all shod in Goodyear Eagle GT+4 white-letter tires. Under the hood is a very clean and completely bone-stock engine bay that is home to a 5.0 liter 305ci V-8 (factory rated at 180hp). The engine is topped off with stock heads, black valve covers, a 4-barrel Rochester Quadrajet carburetor, and a black air cleaner. Other items of note under the hood include power steering, power brakes (front discs, rear drums), and R-12 air conditioning. The V-8 is mated up to a 200R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission that sends power to the rear via a 10-bolt axle with 3.73:1 gears. The SS handling is an improvement over the base Monte Carlo thanks to the F-41 Sport Suspension package that includes heavy-duty springs and larger front and rear anti-roll bars. Exhaust travels from cast manifolds through dual mufflers and exits out a single tailpipe at the passenger rear. Open the driver's door and take a step back in time to 1988! The maroon OEM interior is in immaculate condition with no visible wear – it really looks like a showroom-new car! The door panels are a mix of velour, vinyl, and carpet with bright trim, a handle pull, and a driver's mirror toggle. A bright sill plate leads to a maroon factory carpet that welcomes you inside. Up front are maroon crushed velvet bolstered bucket seats with vinyl bases, sides, and backs while in the rear is a matching bench. Between the seats is a console with an armrest/storage box and the shifter for the transmission. Ahead is a crack-free maroon dash with black gauge & instrument bezels accented with a red stripe (to mimic the outside theme). The gauge cluster (speedo, tach, fuel, temp, oil, volts) is stock from the factory and everything works as it should. Beneath the gauges, you'll find controls for lights to the left and a switch for a rear defogger to the right. Low in the center of the dash is a pod that contains the climate controls and stereo. The HVAC controls are easy to use and provide cold A/C and hot heat on demand with a strong fan. The stereo is a factory Delco AM/FM/Cassette unit that sounds great through factory speakers. The driver is treated to a 2-spoke black faux leather-wrapped SS steering wheel with a working horn on a fixed column. Also on the column is a stalk with controls for the 2-speed wipers and cruise control. Ahead of the passenger is a glovebox that contains the original owner's manual, warranty booklet, stereo instructions, and the original bill of lading from when the car was delivered new to Byer's Chevrolet in Columbus Ohio.
