Vehicle Description Cruisin Classics is proud to present to you this stunning 1969 Chevrolet Nova. Though originally a Dover White car with a black bench seat, this Nova comes to us today with a high driver-quality repaint in a beautiful shade of blue with black bucket seats now in the car. The car is badged as an SS, but we can't say whether it is without a build sheet or window sticker. The VIN has a 4 as the third digit, which tells us that it was born a V-8 car but not that it is an SS. What we know for sure is that this is a great-looking big block 4-speed Nova with a 12-bolt rear, power brakes, power steering, and cold A/C – and that's pretty cool all on its own! The front end of this Chevy features a black horizontal grille with SS badging flanked by round headlights in square black bezels. Beneath the grille is a gleaming chrome bumper with integrated turn signals. Up on the hood is a set of chrome faux hood vents that really add to the look of the muscular front end. Walking around to the side of the car, the first thing to stand out is the black vinyl top that is in excellent condition. The top is accentuated by a strip of bright body side molding with a black center that runs the length of the car. Toward the leading edge of the front fenders, you'll find 396 badging that wraps around the side marker lights. Also on the fenders are wheel lip molding and body-color faux side vents/air extractors that add a sporty touch. Bright accents continue with chrome window trim, dual chrome side mirrors, and chrome door handles. At the rear of the car are another shining chrome bumper, clear taillights, and a black horizontal trim piece with a centered SS badge. On the right side lip of the trunk is a Nova by Chevrolet badge, replacing the Chevy II by Chevrolet badge that graced the trunk in 1968. The finishing touch for this gorgeous exterior is a set of 15' chrome SS 396 wheels all appropriately wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires – just perfect! Under the hood is a very presentable, clean, and organized engine bay with a big orange 396ci V-8 at the center. Though this is not a numbers-matching engine, it is a year-correct block (dated 1/11/69) with casting number 3955272 and the suffix code JQ. The big block is topped with cast heads, new chrome valve covers, an aluminum intake, a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and a chrome air cleaner with a 396 cross-flags decal and a red filter. Other highlights under the hood include a newer aluminum radiator, power steering, HEI ignition, and a new Sanden A/C compressor. Exhaust flows from cast manifolds through newer pipes and a single muffler before exiting behind the rear tires with a satisfying growl. The big V-8 is mated up to a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission (dated 10/21/68) that puts power to the rear wheels via a 12-bolt rear axle with 3.07:1 Positraction gears. This drivetrain allows for freeway driving while still being able to lay rubber when you want to. Stopping power comes from power front disc and rear drum brakes with a dual reservoir. When you open the driver's door the dome light pops on to illuminate a very nice black interior. The door cards appear OEM-correct with a horizontal white vinyl strip and bright trim on a black vinyl background. This same styling extends to the rear seat side panels for a cohesive look. A bright Fisher Body sill plate welcomes you inside for a seat in one of the comfortable black bucket seats. The seats appear to be from a Chevelle of the period and are in excellent condition with no splits or tears. Between the seats is a black center console with bright trim that offers a storage box, the shifter (with a black boot and a white pattern ball), a shift pattern badge, and a working clock. The console is not that of a Nova but it sure looks great in this car. Ahead of the driver is a black 2-spoke SS steering wheel (with working horn) that frames a wide 120mph speedometer with fuel gauge and systems warning lights. The odometer reads |
