Vehicle Description

Up for your consideration is this 1956 CONTINENTAL MARK II. This is a very rare car with only 2550 being made in the 2 years. (1956 and 1957). I reached out to the Mark 2 registry and was able to get the tag decoded and a wealth on information on these rare classics. This car has been repainted to it's original glory and the paint looks great! The engine and transmission both work great. All the windows roll up and down and the factory AC works as well. The interior has been redone to factory correct and has no flaws. This is one of the coolest cars on the planet and the values are really starting to shoot way up. We just watched one go for over 100K with no factory A/C in it! same interior colors but black on the outside.
This 1956 Continental Mark II was completed as #1767 of 2,550 first-year coupes and was refurbished in the early 2000s. The car is powered by a 368ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in medium gray and red leather. Features include a limited-slip differential, white wall tires, factory AC , power steering, an AM radio, air conditioning, and a power-adjustable front bench seat. Even the wing windows are power optioned. Here is the body tag information for you purest out there. This is a very very rare cool car. The most expensive car of its time by far over 10K to buy. You really had to be somebody to afford this car.
We can help get you financed on this car if you have good credit.
C56D2723
18 1F4M 208 16
C= Continental
56 = year (all Mark II are 56 regardless if they were built in 1955, 1956, or 1957)
D = February 1956 month of production
2723 = unit number, it was the 1,767th car to be serialized - not all numbers were used, and not all cars were actually produced in the earliest days. Main production didn't really start until number 999, with a dozen or so being built before that in non-sequential numbers.
18 = Medium Gray
1F4M = Red and gray leather interior
208 = February 8, 1956 build date
16 = 16th car planned for build on 2/8/1956 (more or less, cars were not strictly due to be finished on the day they first went into production)
In modern times, DMVs and insurance companies call this a 1956 model. However Ford's policy was that there was no year identification in the usual sense, they were simply 'Mark II'. But that is blasphemy today, everything must fit into a governmental category. Also I don't know of any DMV which recognizes the make as 'Continental' even though that was the original intent by Ford; it technically according to FoMoCo is not a Lincoln.
